Best. Coffee. Ever.

Twist Cafe

Well, the best coffee I have found in the past several years aside from the coffee I make at home.

I had the fortune to go to Twist Cafe while I needed to kill time in Winnipeg this past Monday. I hoped for decent coffee and decent food, and instead found excellent coffee and a delightful, fresh vegetarian sandwich. I told Sarah immediately that this was our new cafe in Winnipeg.

To be specific, I had the cappuccino and a vegetarian sandwich with humus, cucumber, tomato, alfalfa sprouts on a hearty grain bread. The coffee was how we love it: low-acid and full-bodied. The sandwich was freshly prepared and tasted great. I don’t know whether the humus was made in-store, but that wouldn’t surprise me.

The only criticism I have is that their website claims they are open Saturday, but the business hours at their entrance shows they only open Monday through Friday. Shame, since we’ll so rarely be there on weekdays after they open in the morning. Please, please, please open on the weekend! (I know I can’t promise enough business to make that worth your while. I wish I could.)

You need to understand: no other coffee anywhere, and I emphasize anywhere, rises above the level of mediocre. Anywhere. Except at Twist Cafe, where it is excellent.

Go there now. http://tinyurl.com/ah5uw6
